Imagínate viajar en el tiempo. ¿Cuánto tiempo? 150.000 años. Es el viaje cultural que transcurre entre los vestigios más antiguos de las cuevas prehistóricas de Cantabria y el Centro Botín. Pasando por el mundo pre-cristiano de cántabros y romanos, los albores de la cristianización en los valles del sur y Liébana, la expansión románica y gótica, con sus colegiatas y fortalezas… El mismo territorio que hoy nos acoge ha sido testigo y escenario de todos los episodios de la historia.

Cantabria conserva el legado cultural de todas estas épocas, casonas e iglesias costeadas con fortunas hechas en América, edificios del historicismo o el modernismo novecentista… sin olvidar ese concepto contemporáneo de la cultura que consiste no ya en conservar el pasado, sino en participar del presente y del futuro.

Imagine travelling back in time. How far? 150,000 years. This is the cultural journey which passes by the oldest remains of the prehistoric caves of Cantabria and the Centro Botín. Via the pre-Christian world of Cantabrians and Romans, the dawn of the Christianisation of the southern valleys and Liébana, the Romanesque and Gothic expansion with its collegiate churches and fortresses… The same land that welcomes us today has been a witness to all episodes of history.

Cantabria retains the cultural legacy of all these periods; mansions and churches built with fortunes made in America, historicist or 19th-century modernist buildings… without forgetting this contemporary concept of culture which consists not only of preserving the past but also of participating in the present and the future.
